Baosteel Builds US$86M Plant in VSIP II Binh Duong

BINHDUONG - Shanghai Baosteel Group Corp, the world's second-largest steelmaker by output, has started construction of its two-piece aluminum beverage can factory yesterday on March 12, 2012 in Tan Uyen District, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

The plant is located in Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park II (Phase II) where a cluster of factories have been in construction and under post investment certificate with the total FDI up to nearly US$ 600 million.

This is the first Baosteel’s factory in Vietnam and also the first two-piece aluminum beverage can factory of Baosteel outside China. The plant covers 65,000m2 and is expected to commence operation by early of 2013.

The annual production capacity will be 600,000,000 pieces of two-piece aluminum can. Southern Vietnam and southeastern Asian countries will be the major market.

Baosteel, which supplies two-piece steel and aluminum beverage cans to PepsiCo Inc, Coca Cola Co, Heineken China, TsingTao Beer, etc., has set up five beverage can factories in China, with total annual capacity of 4.5 billion cans.
