Sembcorp opens logistics hub in VSIP Hai Phong

SEMBCORP OPENS LOGISTICS HUB IN VSIP HAI PHONG, VIETNAM

HAI PHONG, July 30, 2015 – Sembcorp Development, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), today celebrated the opening of the Sembcorp Hai Phong Logistics Hub in Vietnam.

Located in VSIP Hai Phong, the logistics hub is developed and owned by Sembcorp Infra Services Hai Phong Co, a wholly-owned company of Sembcorp Development, to provide warehousing solutions to tenants within VSIP Hai Phong and customers located in northern Vietnam. It offers standard ready-built warehouses that are suitable for the storage of general and bonded goods as well as built-to-suit warehouses for customers with specific design requirements. The logistics hub also supports customers for their overseas suppliers’ consolidation, where supplies can be stored in the warehouse for manufacturers in VSIP Hai Phong to draw upon conveniently, thereby optimising supply chain operations.

Five standard ready-built warehouses with total leasable area of 15,000 square metres in VSIP Hai Phong have been completed. Another five warehouses are planned for the next phase of development. Response has been positive, with Konoike Vinatrans Logistics Co of Japan and International Press Softcom (Vietnam) Co of Singapore secured as confirmed tenants, and a number of other customers making enquires or reservations to take up warehouse space.

VSIP Hai Phong is located in northern Vietnam, along the Hanoi-Hai Phong City economic corridor, and will span a massive 1,600 hectares when fully developed. Transportation time of goods from the logistics hub is expected to shorten significantly to 30 minutes with the completion of Vietnam’s longest sea bridge, connecting Hai Phong City to the new Lach Huyen deep sea port, in 2017. By the end of this year, travel between Hanoi and VSIP Hai Phong can also be undertaken within an hour with the completion of the new Hai Phong highway.

Eventually, Sembcorp Infra Services will develop a warehousing and distribution network that will offer tenants multiple pick-up and delivery points for domestic transfer of goods across the seven Vietnam Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) in Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong City, Quang Ngai, Hai Duong and Nghe An provinces. This business unit widens the suite of value-added solutions for tenants of the VSIPs.
