The LEGO Group plans to build new factory in Vietnam to support long-term growth

Hanoi - LEGO Group (Denmark) on December 8 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP) on building a new factory in Vietnam. This will be LEGO’s sixth factory in the world and second in Asia.

Especially, the factory in Vietnam will be LEGO’s first carbon-neutral factory when using on-site battery power from solar cells invested by LEGO and green energy from the nearby supply projects. According to LEGO, the renewable energy will meet 100% of the plant’s operating requirements.

The new factory expands LEGO’s global supply chain network. As a result, LEGO can respond flexibly and rapidly to the changes in consumer’s demand in each region, shortening supply chains and reducing environmental impact of shipping long distances.

LEGO’s goal is to generate 4,000 job opportunities in Vietnam in the next 15 years and recruitment activities will be started in the second half of 2023, in sync with the factory’s construction process.

The new factory is committed to meet the LEGO Group’s extraordinarily high quality and safety standards. Skilled local employees will be trained to operate the same high-tech moulding and processing technology used in every LEGO factory around the world. This is to make sure that every brick is made with near absolute precision, fits perfectly with products made over the past 60 years.
